What is LGD-4033 (Ligandrol)? A Comprehensive Guide

What is LGD-4033 (Ligandrol)? A Comprehensive Guide

1. What is It?

LGD-4033, also known as Ligandrol, is a non-steroidal compound belonging to the Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator (SARM) class. It exerts anabolic effects by binding to androgen receptors with high affinity, while demonstrating minimal androgenic activity in tissues like the prostate and hair follicles. It is currently being investigated in clinical trials for its potential in preventing muscle wasting.

2. Key Benefits:

  • ✔ Powerful Muscle Mass Gain: Potential for 4-7 kg (9-15 lbs) of lean mass in 8 weeks.

  • ✔ Increases Bone Mineral Density: Contributes to stronger bones.

  • ✔ Strength Increase: Can lead to a 10-15% rise in 1-rep max (1RM).

  • ✔ Minimal Androgenic Side Effects: Lower risk of prostate enlargement or hair loss compared to traditional steroids.

  • ✔ Reduces Joint Pain: May offer relief for joint discomfort.

  • ✔ Preserves Lean Body Mass: Helps maintain muscle during caloric deficits.

3. Combinations:

  • Testosterone Base: 200-300mg/week (for foundational androgenic support and to mitigate suppression).

  • MK-677: 10-25mg/day (to enhance IGF-1 levels for synergistic effects).

  • Cardarine (GW-501516): 10-20mg/day (for fat loss benefits).

  • Ostarine (MK-2866): 15-25mg/day (as a lighter SARM alternative for stacking or for those seeking milder effects).

4. Pharmacokinetics:

  • Half-life: 24-36 hours.

  • Full Elimination from Body: 5-7 days.

  • Dosing Frequency: Once per day.

  • Optimal Cycle Duration: 8-12 weeks.

  • Onset of Effects: 7-10 days.

5. Sample Cycle Protocol:

  • Week 1-10:

    • LGD-4033: 5-10mg/day (morning)

    • NAC: 600mg/day (for liver protection)

    • D3+K2: 5000IU/100mcg (for bone health)

  • PCT (Post Cycle Therapy - Week 11-14):

    • Enclomiphene: 12.5mg/day

    • Nolvadex: 10mg/day

6. Critical Warnings:

  • ⚠ Testosterone Suppression: Dose-dependent suppression of 30-60% is common.

  • ⚠ HDL Decrease: Can cause a drop of 10-15 points in "good" cholesterol.

  • ⚠ Mild Liver Stress: May lead to a 1.5-2x increase in ALT/AST liver enzymes.

  • ⚠ Headaches: An adaptation symptom often experienced during the first week.

7. Contraindications:

  • ❌ Individuals under 18 years old.

  • ❌ History of liver disease.

  • ❌ Pregnancy/Breastfeeding.

  • ❌ History of hormone-sensitive cancers.

Conclusion:

LGD-4033 is among the strongest SARMs developed as an alternative to traditional steroids. Preclinical data from 2023 shows promise for treating muscle atrophy. However, its long-term safety profile is not yet fully established in humans.

Note: LGD-4033 is banned by WADA and most sports federations. A lipid panel and liver function tests are recommended before a cycle. Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) is absolutely essential.
